How to Use KeroPrices – Find & Compare Fuel Prices | User Guide

Welcome to KeroPrices! This guide will show you how to use the map, find the best prices, and contribute to our community.

Finding Fuel Prices Near You

Using the Map

The main map shows all fuel stations in our database. Each station is marked with a .

Click any station marker to see its details including name, address, and current prices for all fuel types
Zoom in/out using the + and – buttons or your mouse wheel
Drag the map to explore different areas

Show My Location

Click the “Show My Location” button at the top of the map to:

• Display your current location on the map (shown as a 🚐)
• Automatically zoom to your area
• Find stations closest to you

Note: You’ll need to allow location access when prompted by your browser.

Using the Station List

Click “Show Station List” to open a detailed view where you can:

🔍 Search by Postcode

1. Enter your postcode in the search box
2. The system will find your location automatically
3. Stations will be sorted by distance from you

📏 Filter by Distance

1. Enter a distance in miles (e.g., 10 miles)
2. Only stations within that radius will be shown
3. Perfect for finding nearby options

📊 Sort by Fuel Type

Use the dropdown menu to sort stations by:

Distance (default – nearest first)
Kerosene (cheapest first)
Diesel (cheapest first)
Red Diesel (cheapest first)
Petrol (cheapest first)

Contributing to the Community

Adding a New Station

There are two ways to add a new fuel station:

Method 1: Click on the Map

1. Click anywhere on the map where the station is located
2. Enter the station name when prompted
3. Enter fuel prices for each type:
• Enter price in format: 1.23 or 1.235

• Leave empty if that fuel type is not available

4. Station added! It will appear on the map immediately

Method 2: Add by Postcode

1. Click “Add Station by Postcode” button
2. Enter the postcode of the station location
3. Enter the station name
4. Enter fuel prices for each type (same as above)
5. Station added! The system will place it at the correct location

Updating Existing Prices

1. Click on a station marker to open its details
2. Click the “Edit” button in the popup
3. Update any prices that have changed
• Current prices will be pre-filled

• Change any that need updating

• Leave empty if fuel is no longer available

4. Confirm the update and the station will refresh

💡 Tip: Each fuel type shows when it was last updated (e.g., “2 hours ago”). Please update prices whenever you can!

Flagging Incorrect Stations

If a station is closed, incorrect, or no longer exists:

1. Click on the station marker
2. Click the “Delete” button
3. Enter a reason (e.g., “Station closed down” or “Wrong location”)
4. Submit – The station will be flagged for admin review

Understanding Price Information

📅 Price Freshness

Each fuel price shows when it was last updated:

“5 mins ago” – Very fresh, likely accurate
“2 hours ago” – Recent, probably still accurate
“3 days ago” – May have changed, worth checking
“N/A” – No price data available yet

💷 Price Format

When entering prices, use these formats:

✅ Correct: 1.23, 1.235, 0.99
❌ Incorrect: 1.2, £1.23, 123p

Tips for Best Results

Update prices whenever you fill up – Takes 30 seconds and helps everyone
Check the “last updated” times – Older prices may have changed
Use postcode search – Faster than zooming around the map
Sort by your fuel type – Quickly find the cheapest option
Flag incorrect stations – Keeps the database clean and accurate
Share with friends – More contributors = better data for everyone
